MAPLEWOOD TOWNSHIP OF MAPLEWOOD ORDINANCE # 2939-19 AN ORDINANCE TO DIRECT THE INSTALLATION OF A STOP SIGN ON PLYMOUTH PLACE AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH HIGHLAND AVENUE "Interpretive Statement"

This Ordinance will direct the installation of a stop sign on Plymouth Place at its intersection with Highland Avenue. WHEREAS, the Township of Maplewood ("Township") Engineering Department performed a study to determine whether a stop sign was appropriate for the intersection of Plymouth Place and Highland Avenue; and WHEREAS, the Engineering Department found that the roads in question are under municipal jurisdiction and therefore do not need New Jersey Commission of Transportation approval for the installation of a stop sign; and WHEREAS, the Township Engineering Department, using the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, did a study and determined that a stop sign at the referenced intersection does meet the necessary requirements; and WHEREAS, the Township Engineering Department recommends that a stop sign be installed on Plymouth Place at its intersection with Highland Avenue. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Township Committee of the Township of Maplewood, County of Essex, State of New Jersey that: FIRST: 1. A stop sign be installed on the corner of Plymouth Place at its intersection with Highland Avenue; 2. The Township Department of Public Works install the aforementioned stop sign as a permanent traffic control as soon as practical. SECOND: Severability If any section, paragraph, subparagraph, clause or provision of this Ordinance shall be adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to the specific section, paragraph, subparagraph, clause or provision so adjudged and the remainder of the Ordinance shall be deemed valid and effective. THIRD: Repeal of Prior Ordinances Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistencies.
