ORDINANCE # 3177-26

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TABLE OF ORGANIZATION WITHIN THE TOWNSHIP OF MAPLEWOOD TO ESTABLISH THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT TAX COLLECTOR

“Interpretive Statement” This ordinance will amend the Township’s Table of Organization to establish the position of Assistant Tax Collector, and establish a salary range for the position.

WHEREAS, the Township of Maplewood (the “Township”) has established a Table of Organization of positions within the Township; and WHEREAS, there has been a recommendation to modify the Table of Organization to establish the position of Assistant Tax Collector under the subheading “General Government”; and WHEREAS, the Township wishes to establish such position and to set forth a classification and salary range with respect to the same, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Township Committee of the Township of Maplewood, County of Essex, State of New Jersey as follows: SECTION I: The recitals hereto are incorporated herein as if set forth at length. SECTION II: The position of Assistant Tax Collector is hereby established within the Township’s Table of Organization under the subheading “General Government” and classified as Salary Grade 5. The duties of Assistant Tax Collector shall be as set forth in that certain job description on file with Human Resources. SECTION III: If any section, paragraph, subparagraph, clause, or provision of this Ordinance shall be adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to the specific section, paragraph, subparagraph, clause, or provision so adjudged and the remainder of the Ordinance shall be deemed valid and effective. SECTION IV: All ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance shall be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistencies. SECTION V: This Ordinance shall take effect as provided by law. PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the foregoing proposed Ordinance was introduced and read by title at a meeting of the Township Committee of the Township of Maplewood, held on February 3, 2026 and that the Township Committee will meet again on February 17, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, New Jersey, at which time and place the Township Committee will hold a hearing and proceed to consider to adopt the said Ordinance on final reading and final passage.
