NOTICE OF HEARING

At a regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Township of Irvington, New Jersey, held on DECEMBER 22, 2025, the following ordinance was taken up on its first reading and passed: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING MC 3742 TO AMEND THE HOURS FOR RESIDENTIAL PARKING PERMITS ON WILLS PLACE BETWEEN ORANGE AVENUE AND MELROSE PLACE FROM 6:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. TO 11:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. WHEREAS, the Township of Irvington enacted Ordinance number MC 3742 on November 23, 2020 in response to the concerns of its residents concerning the availability of resident parking between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. on Wills Place between Orange Avenue and Melrose Place, seven days a week; and WHEREAS, the residents would like to amend the hours for residential parking permits on Ordinance number MC 3742 to 11:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. on Wills Place between Orange Avenue and Melrose Place, seven days a week: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF IRVINGTON that parking shall be restricted and a parking permit required for residents between the hours of 11:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M. on Wills Place between Orange Avenue and Melrose Place, seven days a week; and Permit parking will be allowed between the hours and days specified in Schedule VA (Section 620-99). This section of the Ordinance is hereby amended to include Wills Place between Orange Avenue and Melrose Place between the hours of 11:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M., seven days a week. Resident's vehicles must receive and display a valid parking permit provided by the Township of Irvington. Vehicles parked in violation of this ordinance will be subject to towing and the vehicle owners shall be subject to a fine as set forth in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article III. All ordinances or parts thereof that are inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication according to law. Notice is hereby given that the Municipal Council of the Township of Irvington will meet on JANUARY 12, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. A virtual meeting shall be conducted utilizing Zoom, at which time and place, all persons interested will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning such ordinance and at such meeting, said ordinance will be further considered for second reading and final passage. Please monitor the township’s website at Irvingtonnj.gov for instructions on how to access the meeting. During the week prior to and up to and including the date of the meeting, copies of the ordinance will be available at no cost at the Municipal Clerk's Office to members of the general public.
